LSU CARES Referral Process

Any referral that pertains to student behavior/personal issues will be directed to C.A.R.E within LSU Student Advocacy and Accountability.  Referrals pertaining to concerns about a student’s academic situation will be routed to the Academic Intervention Team within the LSU Center for Academic Success.
 

Upon submission, members of these teams and/or offices are not at liberty to share information with referring parties about the status of the student or issue as educational records are protected from disclosure except in limited circumstances. For more information based on your relationship to the student of concern (Self-Reporting, Parent/Family Member, Faculty/Staff), please see the appropriate paragraph below:

 

  • If you are Self-Reporting, please watch your LSU email (even if you have forwarded your LSU email to another email address; some emails may not forward or may be sent to Junk Mail). For information concerning privacy, please visit FERPA for Students.
  • If you are a Parent, Family Member or Friend, please be aware that LSU follows the privacy guidelines contained in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (also known as the Buckley Amendment) which is a Federal law that helps protect the privacy of student education records.  For more information, please visit FERPA for Parents.
